Part Three Concludes

A Miracle in Baghdad
Cellach and Dairach arrive at last at what seems the end of the world: Baghdad. Can the mighty Harun al Rachid, a king greater than Charlemagne, provide the lapis lazuli they’ve sought for so long? Cellach encounters one of his own fellow Scots in the greatest surprise of his life.
Lost in the Desert
Cellach and Dairac leave Rome. The goal of their journey is to obtain lapis lazuli to make the bright blue paint needed to use for the robes in a portrait of Holy Mary for the great Gospel. So they press on to go to the source beyond the sea and through the desert.
Kells: Cellach’s Rome Adventure
Cellach travels with Karl Rex’s court to Rome to adjudicate the overthrow of Pope Leo. Still searching for lapis lazuli for making the special blue ink, he meets a woman trader who shows him both the sites and corruption of Rome.
Kells: Cellach’s World Expands
Cellach spends a year at the court of Karl Rex in Aix, but it must end with a series of sad goodbyes.
Part Three: the Journey to Aix
Cellach now has charge of old Dairic. They travel with Isaac the trade negociator and Liutgard to Aix, the seat of power of Karl, whom you know as Charlemagne, continuing on the quest for lapis lazuli. Cellach discovers the depth of Dairic’s trauma and the seriousness of his own responsibility.
Part Three of Kells Continues
Cellach and the monks travel to Frisia on a quest for lapis lazuli to make the rare bright blue ink necessary for the portrait of Mary in the Gospel. In Frisia, Cellach forms a bond with an independent young woman named Liutgard.
Kells: Part Three Begins
Now we turn to Cellach, the boy slave who embarks on a journey to Dun Add, the capital of the Dal Riata, where the monks must decide over the conflict over who should be the new king: the gentle Ruen or the fiendish Eochaid.
